ロサンゼルス生まれ。生まれも育ちもロサンゼルス。幼少期から大学卒業までをドジャースタジアムから5キロ圏内で過ごした。スポーツ写真を撮り始めたのは大学在籍時に大学新聞「デイリー・トロジャン」編集部に所属したことがきっかけ。アメリカンフットボールやバスケットボールなど大学スポーツの撮影からキャリアをスタートさせ、NBA殿堂入りを果たした名カメラマンのアンドリュー・バーンスタイン氏から撮影のイロハを学んだ。
Born and raised in Los Angeles. From childhood through college graduation, Jon lived within 5 kilometers of Dodger Stadium. Jon began taking sports photos while enrolled in college, when he joined the editorial staff of the universitynewspaper, the Daily Trojan. Jon started his career photographing college sports and he learned the basics of photography from Andrew Bernstein, a renowned?photographer who was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.
